Examples of Mentored & Scaffolded Problems
The Submission Process
Expectations of CMS Teachers
- Read and attempt to solve every problem yourself. The Preview will be available by Sunday, 6 PM.
- It's OK to talk about the problems and related mathematical ideas, but please ...
- Do NOT solve the problems in class while they are 'live' (revisable).
- Emphasize solution process and approaches to solutions.
- Think about how to incorporate the CMS-PoW into your regular instructional practice, including:
- establishing stable small work groups;
- using the archives and mentor's comments;
- using Teacher Accounts;
- having a separate e-mail account for cc'd student submissions.
- Do you agree with the statement below?
"Guess & Check" is acceptable, as long as students can say how they are sure they have found ALL possible solutions.
- Who will be the Point-of-Contact Person?
Expectations of the Math Forum/CES Staff
- We will create problems, but would like suggestions for appropriate target topics.
- We will provide feedback about student strengths and limitations. Together, we will develop the best ways to communicate this information.
- We will offer prompt, professional response.
