Hello from The Big Sky Country Montana!

J-I Elementary is a rural school in northcentral Montana just 30

miles south of the Canadian border. Our K-6 school has 50 students, 6

full-time teachers, and a part-time kindergarten teacher. Our school is

located in the town of Inverness with a population of about 60 people. The

town is about four blocks deep and three blocks wide with wheat fields

skirting the perimeter. It is situtated along US Highway 2. This is an

agricultural area with wheat farming as the main source of income. Farms

average approximately 2000 acres each. The nearest large city of 70,000 is

Great Falls located about 100 miles southwest.

The majority of our students ride the bus to and from school. Some

of them have a sixty mile round trip everyday. Our school day begins at

8:25 and ends at 3:20 for all K-6 students.

We have been experiencing temperature swings as great as 72 degrees

in the past week. We have snow on the ground, but not much for this time of

year.

The fifth and sixth graders will be participating together in this

project. Mrs. Weinert teaches fifth grade and has nine students. Mrs.

Rhodes teaches a class of seven sixth graders.

We are looking forward to working with all of you. This will be our

fourth year participating. Becky Weinert is the contact person for our

school.

Be talking to you online!
