Hello,
We are third graders from Hamilton Central School. Our school has
grades K-12 in one building, and we have a college in the same town.
Our school colors are green and white. We started a children's garden
in front and in the back of our school. We have a big playground. Our
school has raised money to help the Shriner's Hospital and the rain
forest in the last year. We have a chorus and a band. Our basketball
team won the state championship last year.
Our community of Hamilton is a village in a valley surrounded by
tree covered hills in the state of New York. We have many dairy and
crop growing farms on fertile land. Hamilton is also the home of
Colgate University, where many of our parents work and teach. In the
summer, we can go to concerts and the Farmer's Market in the park called
the Village Green which is in the center of our town. We get to see all
our friends there for these events. Lake Moraine is a small but very
lovely lake where we swim, fish and boat during our warm summer days
when we don't have school. We help our community in many ways. One way
was when all the children in our school made wreaths for the lights
through out the village to add some cheer to the December holidays.
If your are interested in fossils, Hamilton has one of the finest
stone quarries where you can search for them.
If you like shopping and eating, we have a real variety of shops
and restaurants, such as the Sushi Blues and Pizza Hut. Since we have
four seasons, we have many sports to participate in; skiing, sledding,
snowmobiling, and skating in the winter, football and soccer in the
fall, swimming, golf, and boating in the summer, and baseball in the
spring.
Hamilton is a wonderful place to live because people are very
friendly and helpful. It's a great place to be a kid.

We have written some short poems to express our thoughts about
those places and things we enjoy about Hamilton.

Hamilton Central School Is where I go,
It's a great school that I know.

There is a place where I work and play
I learn and have fun throughout the day.

Hamilton is a quiet little place
The people, the fun, the weather put a smile upon my face.

Ames is a great store you can buy more
PM Jones is a great store, with your money you earn you can by more.

At the library there are books,
Why don't you take a look?

Hamilton is a great place to be
With a hospital for surgery!

Sledding down Colgate Hill
Is always an exciting thrill.

Meadowlarks and bluebirds cry,
Ghostly branches graze the sky.

At night on campus, lights turn on
But the lights leave with the dawn.

The Farmer's Market is so much fun,
It's like shopping in the sun!

There was a train wreck in Hamilton many years ago. Chocolate bars
spilled for the train. these poems were written about that.

Chocolate, chocolate everywhere
People came from here and there

Chocolate, chocolate what a sight
It will taste good. I hope I get a bite.

The chocolate wreck was such a sight
All the people came to fight
For the candy.

Hope you like it.
