Hello Participants,

We attend Pere Gabriel Richard Elementary School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Grosse Pointe is a suburb of Detroit.

Detroit is also know as Motown, the Motorcity and Hockey Town. Detroit is know for it's auto-industry and Motown Music.

Grosse Pointe is located on the shores of Lake St. Claire, north of Detroit. Lake St. Claire, along with the Detroit River and the St. Claire River, connects Lake Erie and Lake Huron. This means Lake St. Claire is a major shipping route. We can often see freighters going through the lake.

Richard (pronounced Rishard) is located a short two-minute walk from Lake St. Claire. There about 400 students who attend the school, grades kindergarten through 5. Richard is named after a French priest ( now a saint) who founded many schools. There are many schools in our area named "Pere Gabriel Richard."

We are a fifth grade class made up of eighteen students, eleven boys and seven girls. We have particpated in two other Internet projects, which include Postcard Geography and the Monster project. This is our first time participating in the landmark game and we can't wait!

We hope you enjoy the game too. Good luck!

Ms. Sult's 5th grade
