Hi. My name is Mary Emma Stevens. My teaching career began in 1970 upon graduation from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I was hired by the Richmond Public Schools of Richmond, Virginia, to teach communicative arts at Graves Middle School. I taught in Richmond for 18 years both as a classroom teacher in various middle schools and as a teacher in the Gifted and Talented Program there. In 1987 I moved to Massachusetts and began teaching at Cabot Elementary School as the social studies teacher for fifth and sixth grades. I am still teaching at Caobt, however, I am now teaching fifth grade mathematics. I have found that I LOVE teaching math, especially to those students who believe that they hate math and/or can't do it.
I hope that I can become more computer proficient in general as a result of my taking this course. I also hope that I will be able to incorporate the use of the internet into my math classes.
