Answer:
Roberta is the security guard and teacher. Steve is the nurse and the
police officer. Thelma is the chef and the proffesional wrestler. Vince is
the telephone operator and the waiter. We got these answers by reading the
clues carefully. We thought Vince was stupid so he couldn't be certain
jobs. Roberta couldn't be the chef or the police officer because she went
golfing with them. Thelma or Roberta couldn't be the waiter because it says
waiter not waitress. The nurse had to be a boy because it says "he" instead
of her.

******************
Roberta: Teacher; Security Guard

Steve: Nurse; Police Officer

Thelma: Professional Wrestler; Chef

Vince: Telephone Operator; Waiter

We drew charts. Our class started by reading the hints and then filled in
the no's and then the yes's. We realized that the waiter had to be a male;
the chef had to be a female because the problem said, "her husband." The
telephone operator had to be a male, because it said, "husband." The nurse
had to be a male because it said, "he sprained his ankle." Vince couldn't
be the chef, nurse, police officer, or teacher because he didn't have
enough education. Roberta could not be the chef or the police officer
because she went "golfing with them." Obviously, Roberta was not the
professional wrestler.

My name is Simone Levien And my math teacher is Paul Nass I go to
Georgetown Day School and I am in 4th grade.

I got my answers by reading the questions many times. Once someone got a
job I knew that no one else could have that job.

I hope you enjoy my answers

****************

Georgetown Day School, Washington, D.C. Holly's whole 3 grade ------
Vince was the Telephone Operator and the Waiter

Roberta was the Security Guard and the Teacher

Steve was the Nurse and the Police Officer

Thelma was the Chef and the Pro wrestler ---------
We made a graph to figure out the answers. Some people had different
answers, but we think this was the only right one. It was fun.

*****************

Kevin Maloney - Mrs. Pensa's 3rd grade - Center School - Stow MA

Roberta Teacher,Security Guard
Steve Nurse,Police Officer
Thelma Chef,Professional Wrestler
Vince Telephone Operator,Operator

I know that Roberta is not the chef or the police officer because of clue #1.

I know that Vince is not the nurse, police officer, or the teacher because
of clue #2.

I know that the nurse is a boy because of clue #3.

I know that the telephone operator is a man because of Clue #4.

I know that Roberta is not the professional wrestler because of clue #5.

I know that Vince is the waiter because I already found out Steve's 2 jobs
and a boy is a waiter and a girl is a waitress.

******************

Ted Powers - Mrs. Pensa's 3rd Grade - Center School - Stow MA

I found out the answer because I knew Roberta was not the chef, police
officer, or the professional wrestler from the first and last clues. The
second clue means Vince couldn't be the nurse, police officer, security
guard,or teacher. The third clue meant that Steve would have to be the
nurse. In the bottom, a waiter is a boy and a waitress is a girl. So either
Steve or Vince is the waiter. The chef's husband is a telephone operator
means that the chef is a girl and a boy is the telephone operator.
There's more but I don't have time and I've forgotten some of them.

So I figured the people were the following:

Chef - Thelma
Nurse - Steve
Police Officer - Steve
Professional Wrestler - Thelma
Security Guard - Roberta
Teacher - Roberta
Telephone Operator - Vince
Waiter - Vince

Roberta= teacher and security guard

Steve= nurse police officer

Thelma=chef professional wrestler

Vince=telephone operator and waiter

1. Roberta is the security guard an the teacher. She played golf with the
chef and the police officer--she can't be either of those. She can't be a
waiter, she would be a waitress. The clue says she is not the professional
wrestler. The telephone operator is a man. So Roberta is the security guard
and the teacher by elimination.

2. Steve is the nurse and the police officer. The chef is a girl. Roberta
is the security guard and the teacher. The nurse also had desk duty. After
finding everyone's job, we saw that the only jobs left for Steve were
these.

3. Thelma is the chef and the professional wrestler. The chef is a girl and
Roberta already has her 2 jobs. The nurse and the police officer are men.
She can't be a waiter only a waitress. The telephone operator is a man.

4. Vince can't be a police officer, teacher or a nurse because he did not
have an education past the ninth grade.Roberta is the security guard and
the teacher. Thelma from elimination is the professional wrestler. The chef
is a girl. Vince is the telephone operator and the waiter.

Nora
Grade 6 - Mrs. Caruso
Bagnall School,
Groveland, MA
Vince didn't have an education past 9th grade so he would have a lower
paying job as a waiter. The tele op is male and doesn't require a lot of
education so that's Vince, too. Steve had to be the nurse because that's a
man and the police officer because the chef and Roberta played golf
together. Thelma has to be the wrestler because it isn't Roberta and Thelma
is also the chef because she played golf with Roberta. The only two jobs
left for Roberta are the Security guard and teacher.

>Conclusions from the clues:
>1. Roberta is not the chef and not the police officer. 2.Vince is not the
>teacher, not the nurse and not the police officer. 3. The nurse is also the
>police officer. And he is either Steve or Vince. Therefore Steve is the
nurse
>and the police officer. 4. The chef is a woman. Since Roberta is not the
chef,
>Thelma is. 5. The telephone operator is a man. It must be Vince since Steve
is
>the nurse and police officer.
>6. Since the waiter must be male, Vince is also the waiter. 7. Roberta is
not
>a professional wrestler so Thelma is. 8.Roberta has the remaining two jobs:
>teacher and security guard.
>
>So: Steve is the police officer and nurse. Thelma is the chef and
professional
>wrestler. Vince is the telephone operator and waiter. Roberta is the teacher
>and security guard.

>From #1 I knew that Roberta was not the chef or the police officer.
Vince couldn't be a nurse or a police officer, or a teacher from #2.
FFrom #3 The nurse was a man - Steve's the only man left From #4 the chef
is a woman and her husband is the operator. From #5 Roberta is not the
wrestler.

I used this information and crossed out people in the grid above until I
got the answers shown.
