  1. March 3-7, 1997: Salwa went to the mall to buy supplies for her math project... How much money did she start with?

  2. March 10-14, 1997: A frog is at the bottom of a 30-foot well... When will he reach the top and escape?

  3. March 17-21, 1997: Answer a series of questions about a three-inch cube that is painted red.

  4. March 24-28, 1997: Use a 3-cup container and a 5-cup container to measure exactly 1 cup of milk.

  5. March 31-April 4, 1997: Each person walks a fraction of a distance to a wall 100 meters away... how long will it take each one to reach the wall?

  6. April 7-11, 1997: Each of the nine letters P-X stands for a number one through nine, but no two letters stand for the same number. Using the clues given, can you deduce the numbers?

  7. April 14-18, 1997: After the first out at the top of the seventh inning, 100 fans left Dodger Stadium. After the second out, 150 fans left. The pattern continued, with 50 more fans leaving after each out than after the previous out. The game lasted ten innings - how many fans left early?

  8. April 21-25, 1997: If you build a four-sided pyramid, not counting the bottom as a side, using ping-pong balls, how many balls will there be in a pyramid that has seven layers?

  9. April 28-May 2, 1997: Given nine overlapping circles, each with a different number value from 1 to 9 and, where some overlap, a number showing the sum of the value of the two overlapping circles (see diagram), find the number value for each circle.

  10. May 5-9, 1997: The sectors (slices) of a circle all follow a pattern. Describe the pattern, and tell what three numbers belong where the question marks are.

  11. May 12-16, 1997: The water content of 300 pounds of tomatoes evaporates, dropping from 99 to 98 percent of the tomatoes. How much do they now weigh?
