Online Teacher Workshops
Technology Tools for Thinking and Reasoning about Probability
an online workshop for 5th - 9th grade teachers

In 2008, the Math Forum is hosting a series of online workshops for teachers who work with students in 5th through 9th grade. Currently the $100 workshop fees are paid for participants by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Teachers will investigate some mathematics topics common to middle school curricula within the theme of probability. In this context we will explore the Math Tools digital library and several software tools that contribute in some way to mathematical understanding, problem solving, reflection and discussion.. . . . read more >>

Requirements
- working with students in 5th - 9th grade
- willing to spend 2-3 hours a week of asynchronous time on the
online tasks (unscheduled - you pick the time)
- willing to complete all six weeks of the workshop
- willing to be interviewed about your participation as well as have
your work with the workshop tracked so that we can make it really
work for you and others in the future
Program Features
- Use online collaborative learning tools
- Experience flexibility of anytime, anywhere online learning
- No cost - for a limited time, the $100 workshop fees will be covered by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant
- Certificates of Completion will be provided to participants who meet these minimum requirements:
- spend 2-3 hours a week on the online tasks
- participate in each of the online discussions
- complete all six weeks of the workshop
- complete the pre- and post- surveys
