Leadership Development for Technology Integration: Developing an Effective NSDL Teacher Workshop Model
The Math Forum @ Drexel has a grant from the National Science Foundation to introduce middle grades teachers to software tools for teaching mathematics from the NSDL (National Science Digital Library).
The Math Forum has engaged teachers as collaborators and co-researchers in novel and exciting ways over a dozen years. As an example, you might look at the BRAP Project where teachers worked as educational researchers and co-authored a video-paper that they presented at a workshop at MIT. See also our other summer leadership institutes.
Through this new NSDL program we wish to both introduce new technology resources to the broad audience of middle grades mathematics teachers and support those individuals who would like to become leaders in this community, conducting local workshops or offering online support. In the first year of this project, we conducted several face-to-face workshops and we are now offering an online version. Currently the workshop fees are paid for participants by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). See the links in the left navigation bar for more information.
