| Description: | A web page and interactive (Flash) applet demonstrating the translation transformation. Drag the vertices of a given triangle, and the translated image of the triangle is updated as they drag. A translated image can be dragged around to see that it moves on the plane but does not change its shape or orientation. Optionally, user can turn on lines showing the distances from the vertices of the original and the image, demonstrating that they are congruent at all times. Applet can be enlarged to full screen size for use with a classroom projector. After use in the classroom, student can access it again from any web browser at home or in the library with no login required. This resource is a component of the Math Open Reference interactive geometry reference book project at http://www.mathopenref.com. |
