Other Comments: This applet is a great way to help students develop strategies for comparing fractions. Enter in 2 fractions with common denominators, and the applet makes it obvious which one is larger. Then enter in two fractions with common numerators and the students will begin to develop a strategy. Also use the applet to compare fractions like 4/7 and 5/11, where 1 is less than 1/2 and the other is greater than 1/2. |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? Not much, really. This is a prelude to finding common denominators. |
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? N/A |
What extra things must be done to make it work? N/A |
How hard was it for you to learn? Very Easy |
Explanation: All you have to do is enter in numbers representing numerator and denominator; the applet instantly shows fractions representing those values. |
Ability to meet my goals: Very Effective |
