Teacher Review (Based on classroom experience)Reviewer: Craig, Aug 9 2005 11:26:23:443PM |
Classroom use in Courses and Topics: Probability & Statistics: Samples and Experiments, Probability |
Duration of classroom use: One Class |
What did students learn? Students used the applets to see how simulation could be used to
estimate probabilities
|
What did students do with the resource? I had students use this applet along with a collection of other tools in a probability exploration activity
|
How hard was it for students to use? Very Easy |
Other classroom comments: This applets is slower than some others, but more visual; students
especially liked the graphics with the birthday problem applet (but I
found it frustratingly slow).
|
Appropriate for: introduction to a concept |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? None, really, but knowing about the difference between probability
and relative frequency would make for a more meaningful experience.
|
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? None |
What extra things must be done to make it work? Nothing |
How hard was it for you to learn? Easy |
Explanation: Though no directions were provided, clicking around quickly provided
adequate information for using the applets successfully.
|
Ability to meet my goals: Neutral |
Recommended for: Probability & Statistics: Samples and Experiments |
