The activities in this book are designed for students to use the calculator as a problem-solving tool. In order for students to increase their problem-solving skills, the teacher needs to let them work as independently as possible. Not all students or teachers are comfortable with this type of approach. However, it is my belief that given the opportunity, students will solve rigorous problems on their own.

In order for the students to be successful, they need a level of understanding of the mathematics involved in the problem, problem-solving strategies and techniques, and the use of the calculator as a problem-solving tool.
