Presentation Summary


This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

The focus of our talk will be on ways to engage students in activities which promote the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Participants will work in small groups practicing the art of problem solving. Hands-on activities using manipulatives will also be emphasized. Problems and activities will focus on developing such skills as classifying, ordering, inferring, comparing, and verifying. Handouts of appropriate activities will be given.Tommy G.
