Young Children Solving Problems: Activities to Foster Thinking and Communication

Participants will be involved in mathematical activities to foster creative thinking and communication in young children. Hands-on activities which are natural links to learning in reading, writing, science and social studies will be explored. Examples of children's trade books and samples of students' work will be shared to help participants recognize how problem solving and cooperative learning have been used.
