Developing the Ability to Look at Evidence in Student Mathematical Work

This session will provide participants with experience in looking at evidence in student work, a process critical to linking together curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This session will focus on finding evidence in student responses to open-ended questions and in the context of interviews with students solving mathematical tasks. Actual students' work will be included in this session for participants to respond to as well as strategies for using evidence to build scoring and documentation systems for classroom assessment. The primary focus for this session will be teachers in grades 1 through 6.
