NCTM San Diego
Presentation Summary

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

Challenging problems engage the attention of all students, help them to develop logic strategies, think creatively and assess thoughtfully. Students don't have to learn math by themselves. Solving problems in groups is exciting, effective, and equitable. Whether by twos or threes or more, working together can help all students. New activities from EQUALS encourage investigation, making connections, communication, and reasoning.Kay Gilliland (Lawrence Hall of Sci, Berkeley, CA)
