NCTM San Diego
Presentation Summary

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

Connected Geometry is a curriculum project designed to bring geometry out of its traditional isolation in the High School curriculum. The materials are designed to emphasize the "habits of mind" that underlie all mathematical work. Take part in a sampler of activities that highlight habits of mind such as mixing deduction with experiment, looking for patterns, finding extreme cases, and making and testing conjectures. Discussion of the activities will deal with both what it means to do mathematics, and how the highlighted habits of mind link geometry to other parts of the mathematics curriculum.Jack Janssen (Education Development Center, Newton, MA)
