Back to NCTM San Diego: Family/Parental Involvement

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

Children's favorite stories are the basis for this home to school math program. Participants will be actively engaged in mathematical activities that are based on a theme which has been defined in children's books. Management strategies, selection of appropriate literature, and coordination of relevant mathematical content with the individual story will be covered. Modifications of this program can be made to promote family participation in a series of Family Math nights.
