Back to NCTM San Diego: Curriculum Development

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

This session will describe changes taking place to design a new middle school mathematics curriculum. A complete middle school program is being designed through the NSF sponsored STEM project. Discussions will be held on how the materials are different from the traditional textbooks with particular emphasis on thematic units and authenic assessment.
