| Interactive middle school lessons on number and operations, geometry and measurement, functions and algebra, and probability and statistics. They feature: online activities (illustrative Java applets including: Venn diagrams; clock arithmetic; Pythagorean explorer; Tessellate!; vertical line test; boxplot; Monty Hall; Stock Exchange; Buffon's Needle; and many more); discussions, designed to give teachers ideas for how to introduce or explain a concept with a student or class; a dictionary of important mathematical terms used in the lessons; and four representative texts with the lessons linked into their chapter headings (Interactive Math, published by Glencoe, a division of McGraw-Hill; Math Thematics from McDougal Littell; Mathematics in Action from Macmillan/McGraw-Hill; and Middle Grade Mathematics from Prentice Hall). The materials are designed to be easily adaptable to NCTM Standards-based middle school mathematics texts. Part of the Presidential Technology Initiative. | |
