Description: A research project begun at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Laboratory exploring the impact of computers on the way students learn and understand mathematics. The Escher's World Summer Program featured free summer morning programs for 12-14 year olds in the MIT area, in which kids learned math by making designs with pencil, paint, paper, scissors, glue, and advanced computer programs, discovering important ideas about mathematics to help them do well in geometry and beyond. Observers' notes and data summaries from the workshops, papers about the project, and additional information about The Geometer's Sketchpad, the computer program students used in the workshops.
