Description: A series of articles about teaching children to count and to use whole numbers in basic operations such as subtraction and multiplication, illustrated by a collection of QuickTime movies of children's strategies. Features include examples of systematic errors in understanding subtraction, a set of lesson plans using Excel spreadsheets (spreadsheets may be downloaded), and other algorithms for multiplication (lattice and Russian peasant methods.)
