Author:Elizabeth I. Kryszpin - Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute
Description: A unit for remedial math students that may also be used for mainstream science and math classes in grades 5-8, using the science-math connection to extract mathematical and arithmetic concepts from the study of ecosystems and ecology. The unit does not attempt to transform a math classroom into a science laboratory; the most complicated experiment uses plastic soda bottles and soil. Topics discussed are small, and then grow in magnitude and complexity.

Levels: Fifth Grade, Middle School (6-8)
Languages: English
Resource Types: Lesson Plans and Activities
Math Topics: Basic Operations, Ecology
