Materials and Process
- Computer with monitor
- Adobe Illustrator
- I created a rhombus shape, which I reflected vertically and then translated.
- When reflecting, I made sure that the shapes touched, forming a new shape.
- When translating, I made sure to skip the width of the shape and then place it.
- When I had 19 shapes, I took the last bottom shape and reflected it along the vertical axis and then translated it along a horizontal axis eight times, doing the same at the top.
- Taking the very last shape group on the top, I then translated it down 17 more times to match the other side.

Teacher's Comment
What is particularly interesting in this practicum that addresses the construction of a border pattern is that two border patterns are illustrated, both based on reflections of form (although with differences in color). One border pattern (used for the sides) is based on a single axis of reflection, which is long; the other border pattern (used for the top and bottom) is based on multiple axes of reflection, which are short.
