Artist's Narrative Before carving this border pattern, I made a number of doodles and sketches. That's how I decided to choose this design. |

Teacher's Comment The carving captures light and its visual effect changes as the light changes. These effects also captured the interests of Islamic artisans, who played with the effects of light in many media, including wood. |
