This carpet exhibits an overall repeat pattern of large blossoms within a hexagonal grid. Each blossom is shown in profile with a vertical axis of reflection. The field pattern can be read as reflections and translations in a hexagonal grid, or as reflections and glide reflections.

The colorful tulip-and-leaf border plays with the symmetry operations of reflection and glide reflection. While each tulip is framed by a pair of leaves, the symmetry of this border pattern exhibits ambiguity, such that each leaf belongs to two tulips!
