The Math Forum -

A New Look for our Home Page

Our home page sports a new geometric look. Designed to direct visitors to the areas of our site that will interest them most, it provides top-level links to a Teachers' Place, a Student Center, and our Research Division. Each area highlights resources specific to its audience, from public discussion forums, classroom materials and software, to publications and professional organizations. Each also contains relevant slices of the Forum Internet Resource Collection (aka Steve's Dump).

While the Forum Internet Resource Collection is still fun to browse for Internet math and education resources and much more, it also features a new search mechanism that significantly improves its usefulness. You can now search not only by keyword but by grade, topic, and type of resource as well as by date of entry, which can help you keep up with new additions.

Using the new search mechanism you can extract and build Web pages to match your personal preferences. We plan to turn this capability into a form of subscription service that will enable you to receive pages and updates to match your special interests and needs.

You'll find a link to the Forum's Internet Resource Collection in the middle our home page.

Several of the projects featured in our Forum Web Units and Lessons are the products of an Advanced Workshop that took place at Swarthmore this summer. A group of eight teachers, all experienced Internet users, arrived ready and eager to learn more. Training in the development of Web pages occurred during the first few days of the workshop; thereafter participants took advantage of every available minute to be at their computers.
